When I set for reloading this year I decided to use a RCBS X die. Without knowing so I adjusted the die down too far. So in rapid fire I meet my match. In sitting rapid fire I had to shoot an alibi. Not good. In prone rapid fire I had to shoot to also shoot an alibi but when I did the rifle jamed again. The problem was that I set the shoulders back when I resized the cases.
The funny part is that it never jamed when I shoot slowfire - only the rapid fire strings, and the first round out of the magazine - went sour.
I reset the die today but I have 300 rounds loaded up badly. I will use them for pratice or for slowfire only.

First match of the season
Last Wensday night was the first match of the season. It was cold and windy but it was not raining. What made it harder was shooting into the setting sun.
The scores weren't great but we have a whole seaon to work on them.
And walking back from the targets I managed to sprain my ankle!

Delta Colorado High Power Rifle Match
On March 20 I was able to shoot a 100 yard HP Rifle match in Delta Colorado. The range was nice and the people were even better. They loaned me a rifle and sold me a 100 rounds of ammo at rock bottom prices.
It was a really nice experience since there were no bugs and it wasn't raining.
Regardless I managed to shoot the worst score of my life. I must be getting old or something. I hope I do better the rest of the season.

Kodiak Rifle Shooting

The Kodiak High Power Rifle season will start on April 16, 2011. The first match will be one of our full distance 500 yard matches.
You don't need much to shoot in one of these matches. A rifle with iron sights that will hold at least 5 rounds in the magazine is all you need to shoot. Bring along 88 rounds of ammo, ear and eye protection, and you are set.
It is nice to have a spotting scope or a pair of binoculars. A shooting mat is also nice but an old tarp will work.
Most people shoot AR15's, M1A's and M1 Garands because they can be accurate and they are easy to reload in the rapid fire stages. They definitely aren't required though.
